Safe Prom in St. Johns County
Prom-oting Safe Prom
Prom should be a night to be remembered. PACT works with MADD and other community organizations to hold assemblies, generally during prom week, at every high school in St. Johns County. The focus is to urge students to make the decision to stay sober on prom night, as well as every other night.
One of the first things to go when you drink is good judgment. Teens who drink are far more likely to get in fights, have unplanned or unprotected sex, and drive drunk or ride with a drinking driver.
How Can Parents Help?
Talk with your youth NOT just on the night of Prom, but once a week on how they are feeling, how can you help, and reminding them to live a fun, healthy, substance free life! Set expectations with realistic consequences, and then be ready to enforce what you have said.
Are you hosting a party, sleep-over, or other event for teens or preteens?
*PACT Prevention Coalition and Papa Johns work together to show our appreciation to adults who encourage our youth to have a great time on Friday nights without drugs or alcohol! Contact Lynnette by the Tuesday before your event, at Lynnette@pactprevention.org for an application. Your approved application will entitle you to a 50% discount on your entire Papa Johns order!
